Saturday project

Earlier this Spring dad was so excited to use his Mantis that he plowed all the garden and even some of the flowers again, he didn't know they were flowers so they became weeds... anyway today we decided to do it together. We made a early trip to Stokers and got some flowers and some tomato, cucumber, pepper plants, and some flowers for out front.
So out came the Mantis again.... and dad went to work.... it's been several years since he's tilled the front and the dirt was really hard, but with a little persistence he got the dirt really nice to work with. Oh yes I forgot we bought some "Premium Manure" not like Liseanne's but it should work just as well. Then that was tilled into the ground as well.

Then came the planting. I have NO idea what the name of the flowers are or if they are annuals or perennials. I guess we'll see......

Then it was onto the veges. 3 tomatoes, 4 yellow peppers 4 green peppers, and 2 lemon cucumbers.

The green up against the house is "Morning glory" so I wouldn't let dad till that part and he went and got "round up" to hopefully kill it.

the next part was to plant the ponies that Melinda gave me for Mother's Day

and water the plants she gave us a couple years ago. looks like hard work.

another project

Getting ready for K.K. graduation is not a small undertaking, it seem that there is always costumes that need repair, washing, changing, and making new. An so the task begins. 12 shirts that needed top button removed and Velcro added to make it easier and faster for the teachers to make the costume change. Then add new elastic to Mr. snowman, 2 night gowns, change the Velcro on the bunny costume, and uncle Sam's vest, mend seams on the bunny costume, the ghost costume, make a new lamb hat, and hood. repair the butterfly wings, the Arabian hat, get a new Japanese prop to replace the one that a grand child destroyed. fix 2 Easter baskets and put together another one. Fix the Indian head band, the Snow man's head, get a new rope to pull the bus across the stage. Are you tired yet ??? add all the practices, buying the little gifts (coloring books) for all the 150 kids, and all the other things that have to get done at the end of school, and you soon know why we are always glad when it's all over. Plus..

we have always borrowed a costume for the Japanese boy from one of our teachers but She no longer works for us, so this year I had to make the boys costume. While looking for the material we found some material that would work but I just wasn't sold on it so Liseanne said lets keep looking so we went to Joann's and there She found this material which was perfect. Thanks Liseanne

I think it turned out rather cute.

K.K. Graduation

Today was our Graduation and so I thought I would share part of it with all of you. This has been a roller coaster of a year for me and I was really dreading Graduation. I'm used to being back stage with mom out front leading the program. It was quite emotional for me. at times like this I really miss her. And wonder if I will be able to fill her shoes. (maybe just a little). Any way Graduation went quite well if I do say so my self.
Thanks Liseanne for all your help, if I forgot something you seemed to be there with all the answers. I also need to say thanks to all the teachers, they WORK hard and fast so the program runs on time and smoothly. Actually those behind the stage work the hardest.
I thought it would be fun to show you what it looks back stage. of coarse there arr not kids because the program hasn't started yet. this is on the girls side.

More of the things we use for the girls. Here is LouAnn getting things ready.

This is the boys side, We always dress the reindeer before the program starts because it takes so long to get all of then dressed plus all the others that need to change into costumes at the beginning.

Mary is getting one of the reindeer dressed while the other teachers are making sure that every thing is in order.

And last but not least just a picture to show you how crowed it gets. The empty chairs are all filled when the program starts and there is standing room only. Sorry I didn't get any pictures during the program but I was REALLY BUSY.

Just to show how hard we work......Poor Madison needed to rest and the table was the closest thing she could lay down on. "Don't bother me I'm sleeping"

Morgan settled for a comfy chair. "This was hard work. Please just let me sleep here for a while."

Projects

I have a "to do" list for summer projects that just keeps growing well I decided that I didn't have to wait until summer so I started with an easy project.
This is one of the teacher chairs at the K.K. the kids were making it bigger every day so I had to fix it before it got to the point that it couldn't be fixed

So bought material that I hoped would match and went to work... I think it turned out nice.

New windows

After 40 years we decided to up grade our windows. Before they could put the window in we had to take down all the curtains and move all funiture away from the windows... This is the before picture of our front room window
but it's a good thing that it was a warm day because our door was open the whole time... Oh wait windows!!! we didn't have any windows in either

their music wasn't to bad and wasn't to loud thank goodness.

they were fast workers they had the windows out and the new ones back in fast.

Yup...that's what's left of our windows... they just threw everything out on the lawn. Which the kids thought was really funny

While shopping with Liseanne she said that she wanted to redo Chester and Grady's room in "John Deer" so when I saw this puzzle I thought I'll put it together for their room this should be easy.....Well some was easy but other were not so easy because the puzzle pieces were all really weird shapes and sizes. but after about a week I finally finished.

well not really it still needs to be glued and framed so for now it's still sitting on the card table in my family room. When I get it ALL finished I'll post the last picture.

Fish Farm

Thursday and Friday was our annual field trip to the fish farm. I don't have any pictures of our trip Thursday because it was sooooo cold in fact it was snowing....Yes I said snowing May 1st. and it was snowing...well I gave the parents the choice to go or not and since they were there all at K.K. off we went. but I wonder if it was worth it. It was so cold we had kid crying because their hands were cold. I've never seen parents catch their fish and leave so fast.
I sent Liseanne back to K.K. early because she had her 3 youngest and Chester was crying he was so cold and that can't be good for a new baby. Not a good experience.
But Friday was a whole different story the storm was gone, it was warm, and we had a blast. We had kids every where. All excited to be there fishing. Dads were the most excited.

Now you can see why it was so easy to catch the fish...Yup those are all hungry little fish just waiting to bite at our hook.

We had a fishing pole without a hook on the end so we let Chester fish to his heart content. and so he fished.......

And fished....It made a Happy little boy. The little girl belongs to Mike Norton. Any way we had a lot of fun and the kids young and old did too. The rest of the pictures I took belong to the Chapman's and their blog so I have to get them to her they are really cute.

Friday after the fish farm ( pictures of that are coming) dad and I headed to get us something to eat. Just before the over pass on 300 N. a BIG black lab came running out into the road, Dad swerved to miss the dog,but the dog ran into us.
If you look at the black spot in the head light that is where it is broken

the bumper will have to be replaced because the notches that hold the bumper to the fender are cracked We hope that the dent in the fender can just be popped out and it will be OK.

We sure weren't very hungry after that. OH yes the dog is just fine but our car well pictures are worth a 1,000 words. We'll let you know how things work out. :(
