Our October Fest

Well it must be October........ last Saturday we had our Pumpkin Walk meeting and after, it was suggested that next Saturday every one meet at the K.K. and carve pumpkins. Half the fun is just talking with everyone and catching up on each others lives. Oh by the way this party went from 9 in the morning until 9 at night. I went down at 9:30pm to check things out and it was all clean and put ready for Monday, I just had to turn down the heat. Pumpkins.....Pumpkins every where!!!!!

This was the scene when I walked into the school.....( I have the pictures back wards but Oh well.)
It had been raining and the pumpkins were wet so they were using a hair dryer to dry them before carving.

there were pumpkins every where.....Look out the window behind Mike. A little rain but every thing is nice and green now everything is covered with snow. You can also see all the pumpkins all over the lawn.
Everyone got into the act even the older kids were carving.....while the younger kids played with the toys in the other room. What an ideal place to carve pumpkins.
Even though there is talking, joking, and laughing to these carvers..... this is VERY serious business. All the "Jack-o-lanterns" are stored in the sheds which makes it interesting trying to get to things you need in there. But WE all love it.....well most of us love it. :)

3 posts in one week

Wow, I've never posted 3 posts on one week before. This one will be short, I just though it was such a cute picture that I had to share. Melinda ,Liseanne, and I were in the house canning and looked out the door to check on the kids and this is what we saw. Only none of us had a camera so I jumped on Parker's bike and hurried and got my camera. Thanks Parker even though you didn't know I borrowed your bike. cheap entertainment ....... but it kept them busy for a few minutes any way.
GRAND KIDS ARE THE BEST ! ! !

Sealing Day

This was a memorable day. One we have been waiting for for a loooooong time. It was very special to have all of our children that were here participate with dad. we missed you Joanna and Brady. But we did think about you wishing you could have been there also. We couldn't take pictures inside so we settled for one out side after it was finished. Notice the big smile on Galen's face We decided to go for ice cream after
So we all walked over to "Farr's Ice Cream" Brian had a broken toe and couldn't walk that far so he drove.

May I say that Farr's Ice Cream is the best.....It was hard to choose which flavor you wanted they have about 75 flavors.

Wow.... with that many people it Was a lot of ice cream Most of us had 2 scoops

Surprise !! Surprise !! Dad even got his own cup of ice cream. But only one scoop.

OK!!!! let's have some fun while we are enjoying ALL this ice cream.

Does this look we're having fun?

Her have a taste of mine? OK but I just finished ALL of mine

I want a taste too........we all had a taste of every one's ........ yummy

You thought I was kidding when I said that we got a lot of ice cream......Yup .......and we ate All of it.

After all the ice cream....a big drink of cold water
After we got home Galen said lets go to Fielding that is where his dad was born and raised so off we went. I'll send pictures on the next blog.

Stairs "Out with the Old in with the New"

You all know what our stairs have looked like for a very long time.....since dad and I couldn't agree on the type of flooring....carpet versus wood several months ago I told dad that I would pay to have the stairs done if I could have the wood and he said yes so down to R C Willey's we went to get floor samples. well after a month or so trying to decide which color I liked we placed our order.
They said it would take a week to 10 days to get the stairs in well a month later every thing was a go only to have the guy that was to lay the stairs out of town or not working...what ever.
so last week they called and said they would be there on Friday to put the stairs in ...only to have them call again and say the guy we wanted to do the job couldn't do it Friday and we could have someone else lay it, or we could Wait and he would lay it Tuesday so I said we'll wait I've waited this long I can wait 3 more days.

So they called Monday and said that he would be there at 7:30 am and was that OK so this morning at 7:30 there was a knock on our door...WOW right on time. But it was not the older guy that we thought was going to lay the wood. By this time I was just glad to have them being done. He told us that he worked with the guy we thought was going to be here. So Off to work he went. You can see from the next pictures that he was every where out front.
Yup... we couldn't even get out our front door. Well we could but it was a tight squeeze.

Hey Liseanne, look at the size of this chop saw...and a nice table too.

It was fun to watch him for a while he really knew what he was doing and he worked fairly fast.
By the time I came home to get ready to go to the Temple he was done, and was just cleaning up his mess.
The finished stairs......plus dad's toes

They really look nice, as you can see. We do have to be careful not to wear stocking feet and be in a hurry because the stairs are slippery and be careful if they get wet. OH GREAT!!! with my luck.......... :{

2 Blogs at once

When I go to K.K. I work ......When dad comes to K.K. this is what he does... Of course I wasn't doing much because I was taking all the pictures. :)
What a fun Grandpa...the tower is as tall as he is..Chester loved it

So much that he had to watch it Fall
This time Tanner got in on all the fun ....Look how tall it is Grandma. Can you see the man on top? He's going to fall.....
Which one to push it over????
Of course it's Chester....can you see where the man on the top landed? Yup right on Chester's head. After the tears, both boys wanted Grandpa to build another tower. But for Grandpa it was time to go to work....He really does work hard at K.K. Thanks sweetheart.

Just a few catch ups

All summer I have been busy fixing things at K.K. I took pictures like a good girl only to have lost them :( so now you can't see just how bad this desk was before. May I say That this was my vanity while I was growing up and Dad...Grandpa Chester.... turned it into a desk by making my shoe racks into the shelves as you see here. And it has not been varnished or any thing since I used it. It was BAD.

So I sanded and sanded to remove the 40 + years of pencil marks and magic marker from the top. Then 3 coats of varnish, and you see the finished Oh wait!!!! I then put a coat of epoxy on the top, for a smooth HARD finish and I love it. Good as new!!

Another project was to repair the K.K. sign. It's funny how you don't notice things getting in need of repair. until it is almost faded out completely.

Here is the before....

And the after.....Thanks Galen for taking the sign down and then putting it back up...What would I do with out all your help.

This summer we decided to plant some flowers out front I think I sent a picture earlier but if you look at the 4th of July pictures you can see what they looked like in the beginning

Here they are growing so nicely and we are thrilled with our flowers.

And they just keep growing

And this is what they look like now ...I don't ever remember so many flowers and so much color in front of our home. Dad comments on how much he likes them just about weekly. Thanks Melinda for your advice about the flowers.

My Summer Fun?

I often have people ask me if it is nice to have the summer off. At that I just have to laugh. Summer is busier than when the kid are there. Liseanne and I are busy EVERY day trying to get every thing done that needs to get done and as we are busy the kids are busy too :) Doesn't Chester look like he is having fun? This activity kept the kids happy for hours so we just let them do it. (I got this picture out of order but you'll be able to see why he is smiling.)
The kids loved to play out on the swings and race trucks. Melinda and kids would come on Wednesdays and hang out with us which was fun.

" Look Grandma I can pump all by my self"......Cam on the other hand"I want to swing too, just let me figure out how to get in the swing."

This picture is dark but the size of the streamer says it all

" Yup! I did this all by my self. see how long it is."

and this is what the front room looked like most days when we were there. but that's OK because it was easy clean up.

More than just Chester liked to play this game.....young and old got into the action. "I think my streamer is longer than yours." And it was just as much fun just to watch the toilet paper fly. Oh by the way if you need to use toilet paper.in the .......all the rolls are empty. :)

While they were bust with the toilet paper one of our jobs was to wash ALL the toys. Here is just a small group drying.

And this project was an on going project All summer

All the painting.... this was just the first Big painting job. Don't they look nice and shinny and clean ready for school to start?

Nothing was where it should have been. but not to bad this day. You can see the desk behind the tables. I had sanded all the paint off and it was waiting for it's turn with the paint brushes. The finished picture will be coming soon...When I can remember to take my camera to work with me.
